    Shai Osudoku Mp commissions health center to cater for 7000 inhabitants

    A Health Center facility constructed through strategic partnership by the Member of Parliament for Shai Osudoku Linda Akweley Ocloo and Quarter Charity-Ghana Foundation has been commissioned and handed over to the Ghana Health Service for its operationalization to delivery of quality healthcare services to residents of Ladowayo-Odumse and five other surrounding rural communities with a population of over 7,000 inhabitants in Dodowa District.

    Commissioning the facility, the MP Linda Akweley Ocloo said the facility will enhance accessibility in healthcare delivery for the residents who hitherto had to travel long distances to Dodowa District Hospital before accessing healthcare services.“the uniqueness I see is that it will ease the pressure on the Dodowa District Hospital.

    Fact is, the District Hospital is not serving the people of Dodowa alone. People travel from other adjoining Districts to seek health care. So, we are really facing a District health challenge that needs a considerable effort and planning to address”. She said.

    The MP stated that, there are many communities that need primary healthcare facilities in the district to increase accessibility and encourage pregnant women in particular to attend antenatal and postnatal care service “however, we do not have the resources available to ensure that all towns, cities, and communities in District are adequately served. I am particularly worried with the gap in access to health facilities in the District. As we speak now, the condition in Agortor and other areas is growing worse and worse day by day. And this why I will always remain thankful to the Qatar Charity Foundation for supporting the District to bridge this yawning gap in access to health facilities”.

    The MP Linda Akweley Ocloo pleaded with the Ghana Health Service to as soon as possible post hardworking and committed healthcare workers to the facility to make to begin work.

    The Shai Osudoku District Health Director, Dr. Rev.Ebenezer Asiamah in his remarks said ,the provision of health facility at Odumse is long overdue since it is strategic positioned to serve surrounding communities as such as Lardowayo, Sota, Mobole and parts of Afienya with significant total rural population of about 7,000.

    According to him, the facility will be the high-quality provider of comprehensive services for Children, Adolescent, and Adult populations in the catchment area.

    “at this facility, the populace will receive a wide range of services specially designed to their needs including; clinical care, maternal care, and reproductive health, nutrition, preventative care as well as Mental Health”. He said.

    The Health Center is expected to be operational before the end of year 2021.

    Qatar Charity is a Doha-based International NGO working in Ghana to respond to humanitarian and development needs particularly in the areas of Health, education, social protection, water and sanitation.
