Mr Kwabena Agyepong, a Senior Aide of the Dr Bawumia Campaign team, on Tuesday said the peace being enjoyed in the country was anchored on religious tolerance.

He therefore praised Dr Mahmmud Bawumia, the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for his all-inclusive campaign by carrying his message to all segments of the Ghanaian society.

Mr Agyepong said this when Dr Bawumia met the chiefs, religious and traditional leaders in the Adaklu constituency at Adaklu Abuadi, as part of his campaign tour of the Volta region.

He admonished those who were campaigning on religious lines to desist from doing so as it would create division and anarchy in the country.

He described Dr Bawumia as a unifier and humble person, who worked and identified himself with all religious bodies, including traditionalists just to maintain the peace being enjoyed in the country.

Mr Agyepong enumerated several people-centered development initiatives introduced by the NPP government including the free Senior High School, Ghana card, digital address system, the School Feeding Programme and the National Health Insurance Scheme.

He therefore entreated all Ghanaians to vote massively for Dr Bawumiah to retain the NPP in power to enable it to take the country to the next level.

Mr Agyepong paid glowing tribute to the forebears of the Party from the region for the pivotal roles they played during its formative years adding “this shows that NPP is not an Akan Party as you are made to believe by our detractors”.

Togbe Gbogbi Atsa V, the President of the Adaklu Traditional Council welcoming, Dr Bawumia and his entourage in an address delivered on his behalf urged leaders of the various political parties and their followers to let their “actions and utterances before, during and after the general elections consolidate the peace we are enjoying in the country”.

He praised the NPP government for the work they were doing in the country and appealed to them to extend the same to Adaklu.

Togbega Gbogbi noted with concern that a school bus pledged by the President to the Adaklu Senior High School some years back was yet to be redeemed and pleaded with the President to make good his promise.

He also drew the attention of the government to the bad nature of the Adaklu Tsriefe-Adaklu Waya-Adaklu Torda road, adding “if nothing is done about it these communities will be cut off from the rest of the communities”.

Dr Bawumiah introduced Mr Bright Nyatsikor, the Parliamentary candidate of the NPP in the constituency to the chiefs and appealed to them to support him to represent them in the next Parliament.

Present were Dr Archibald Letsa, the Volta Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Ms Elizabeth Ohene, Regional and Constituency executives of the party and some members of the Bawumiah campaign team.

The Vice President, entered the region on Sunday to Hohoe, North Dayi, Afadzato South, South and North Dayi, North Tongu among others to solicit for votes and remind the electorates of their performance, achievements, and challenges over the years
