The International Youth Network for United Nations Security Council Resolution (IYNUNSCR) 2250 has sworn in 28 new officers from across Ghana into its Chaplaincy and Mission group.
The new officers, comprising seven females and 21 males, pledged to uphold the constitution of the Network to promote peace and stability wherever they found themselves.
Rev Dr Lilian Sally Addo, the Global President of the IYNUNSCR 2250, said the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) recognised the efforts of the youth in peace building.
She was speaking at the Swearing-in of New Officers and Unveiling of the IYNUNSCR 2250 Chaplaincy/Missions in Ghana ceremony held in Kumasi.
Rev Dr Addo noted that in the year 2015, the UNSC adopted a global policy framework which outlined a set of guidelines upon which policies and programmes would be developed to foster peace.
She indicated that the framework explored the impact of conflicts on young people, what could be done to mitigate it and how the youth could be meaningfully included in creating peaceful communities.
Hence, the IYNUNSCR 2250 championed the recruitment of people, especially the youth to train and encourage them to be advocates of peace and security across the world.
Bishop Ambassador David Yaw Yeboah, who was elevated from the African Director to the Global Director of the IYNUNSCR 2250 Chaplaincy/Missions at the event, said the network was a call into a life of discipline, dedication and volunteerism.
He advised officers to focus on the five pillars of the UNSC which included participation, protection, prevention, partnership, and disengagement and disintegration in the promotion of peace and security.
