Mr. Acquah made the proposal during the inaugural ceremony of the inter-party dialogue committee at Daboase in the Wassa East District.

He said the peace pact had been an aged old practice dating back to 2012 aimed at fostering a peaceful electoral process in the district.

The District Director further highlighted the NCCE’s commitment to promoting civic education and raising awareness among citizens and political entities about the crucial role of peace during elections and even after.

He added that by encouraging the signing of a peace agreement, the NCCE aimed to avert electoral violence, promote tolerance, and ensure that the election process was conducted fairly and orderly.

Mr. Frank Kwabena Danso, District Information Officer, who facilitated discussions during the ceremony, outlined the responsibilities of the newly formed inter-party dialogue committee.

He noted that the committee’s core mandate included monitoring and addressing issues such as the defacement of campaign posters, hate speeches, inflammatory and abusive campaign messages, and the spread of misinformation.

Mr. Danso underscored the importance of adhering to regulations governing political rallies and processions, as well as avoiding the exploitation of religious and ethnic differences to any political party’s favor’s that could undermine community harmony.

The NCCE’s efforts in Wassa East reflected a broader commitment to ensuring that the electoral process remained peaceful, transparent, and inclusive, setting a positive precedence for elections in the country.
