Madam Akosua Annobil, the Founder of the Tech in Ghana, announced the venue and defeat the close of the two-day 14th edition of the 2024 conference held in Accra, on Wednesday.

The theme for this year’s event was “Security, Synergy, and Storytelling.”

The programme is a prominent UK-Ghana platform dedicated to strengthening and showcasing Ghana’s thriving tech ecosystem.

Mr. Evans Amoah-Nyamekye, the Special Advisor to the Ashanti Investment Trust in a speech after the declaration quizzed “Why Kumasi and, why not Kumasi,” stating, “continuously Tech in Ghana has been in Accra, continuously Tech in Ghana has been in London.

“The relationship between Ashanti, London and Ghana have been consistently clear, let us all embrace the opportunity, let’s make Ghana great by investing in every part of the country.”

He said bringing the Tech in Ghana to Kumai would help for the entire world to see the new city being built through technology development in the Ashanti Region.

He said there were strategic plans for the new city of Kumasi where a good proportion of the country’s minerals could be found while manufacturing and production were being developed.

Mr. Amoah-Nyamekye stated that the Ashanti Investment Trust is a setup that deals with the commercialisation of projects within Ghana and that, “There are three key projects – Ashanti new city, minerals and resources, and manufacturing and production that are being developed.

He said: “Kumasi abounds in technological skills and talents, and we are hoping to see the event taking place there for everybody to feel the vibration of Ashanti vibrations. Accra is a beautiful place, but Ghana has other places.

“I pray that all Ghanaians would embrace the opportunity to come to Ashanti Region and enjoy what is about to happen,” Mr. Amoah-Nyamekye stated, adding, “this is a perfect opportunity and a perfect time to be able to come to Kumasi to see some of the new technologies, and some new development that have taken place.”

He eulogised Madam Akosua Annobil, the founder of the Tech in Ghana for her 17 years continuous tenacity, excellence, consistency, and humility, which he said, “represented her face in (TECH).”

Mr. Gideon Brefo, Chief Executive Officer of hapaSpace said the Kumasi takeover of Tech in Ghana would be something they were yearning for, and that it was going to be useful because it would provide an opportunity for people to display their innovations in terms of technology.

“When we talk of technology, we think of Accra, but we have a lot happening in terms of technology in Kumasi and around. The event will give the people opportunity to patronise and then we can support each other,” he stated.

Other speakers who supported the declaration of the Kumasi takeover of Tech in Ghana were Samuel Aboagye, Chief Whizzy, Whizzy Innovation Hub, Dr Laud Anthony Basing, CEO, Incas Diagnostics, and Emelia Djani, CEO and Co-founder, Uncontained Spaces.

Nana Adloa Adobea Khartey, Secretary to the National Communication Authority said the government has put in a lot of measures in moving the tech space forward in improving transactions and businesses.

She said in 2016 Ghana’s internet penetrations was around 30 per cent but currently 77 per cent just within some few years and these were some of the things that were aiding the tech enabling system in the country.
