Oseadeayo Ohemaa Ofosua Aduanwomah Amoakoa Ahoufe, the Ahenema Hemaa (sub-queen) of Kwahu Ahinase, in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region called on Ghanaians in the diaspora support for the implementation of the ‘Promoting Villages to Cities” campaign.

This, she said, would greatly help control the growing rural-urban migration and facilitate progressive development of villages and rural communities in the country.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, the sub-queen said she initiated the campaign aimed at promoting the progressive development of villages and rural communities.

She explained that the Kwahu Ahinase community had been chosen as the first beneficiary of the campaign, and called for support to achieve the objectives of the campaign. Oseadeayo Ahoufe, also the Queen-mother the Kwahuman Association of Minnesota in the United States and the founder of the ‘Favoured Brands Network’, said without support and collaboration, it would be extremely difficult to achieve her vision for the nation.

“We need support from Ghanaians in the diaspora, in particular. That will inspire other citizens home to support the initiative to improve development in our local communities and villages and to stem the growing trend of rural-urban migration.
“Our goal is to transform Kwahu Ahinase into a model city in the next five years”, Oseadeayo Ahoufe stated, saying the implementation of the campaign would be replicated in other localities too.

She said the campaign to create commercial plantations to boost agribusiness, create jobs and strengthen the local economy. It is imperative for the government, and corporate entities as well as natives of Kwahu Ahinase home and abroad, philanthropic organisations and individuals to support the project to achieve the desired results.

Oseaddeayo Ahoufe said the campaign was currently collaborating with ‘Godsons,’ a group of social media influencers to leverage new media influences to tackle and improve   environmental sanitation.
