The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council has announced plans to hold Ashanti Kente Week from March 23 to March 31, 2026, as part of AshantiFest 2026 and Ghana Month celebrations.

In a statement signed by Chief Director Michael Owusu Amoako, the council said the week-long celebration aims to promote the region’s rich cultural heritage and encourage pride in the globally renowned Kente cloth, a symbol of Ashanti identity, craftsmanship, and tradition.

All government institutions, corporate organizations, and public service establishments are encouraged to incorporate Kente into their attire, whether through full outfits, scarves, ties, accessories, or subtle Kente-inspired designs. Religious institutions, including churches and mosques, are also urged to engage congregants by adding touches of Kente during services.

The festivities will culminate with a grand event on March 31, 2026, at the Kumasi Cultural Centre, organized in collaboration with the Manhyia Palace. Activities will include cultural displays, a traditional food fair, and a music and Jama festival, celebrating the Ashanti people’s culture, history, cuisine, and music.

The council called on all institutions and citizens to actively participate, promoting cultural identity and supporting local artisans and the Kente industry.
