The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Prince Kojo Arhin, has inaugurated a new Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in Dadagua to enhance access to basic healthcare for residents in about 13 remote communities in the Central Region.
The facility is expected to serve areas such as Brofoyedur, Taedo, Toaful, Dwendwenbeadze, Anomansa, Amasamkrom, Daamang, and Mampong. Previously, residents had to travel long distances to towns like Anomabo, Saltpond, or Mankesim to receive essential medical services.
Community members noted that poor road conditions and limited transportation often delayed access to care, especially during emergencies. Sara Dughan, a resident of Dwendwenbeadze, explained that accessing healthcare had been a major challenge due to the absence of reliable transport, sometimes forcing patients to wait until morning or rely on motorbikes, often arriving at health facilities in critical condition.
The newly established CHPS compound, equipped with medical supplies through support from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is expected to significantly improve healthcare delivery, particularly for pregnant women.
Prince Kojo Arhin assured residents that this project is part of a broader plan to expand healthcare services across the constituency, emphasizing his commitment to promoting universal health coverage through similar initiatives.
