A potentially fatal accident on the Kpeve–Asikuma road was averted after the timely intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), which rescued all 12 passengers involved.
The crash occurred at Agbate on March 18, 2026, when a Sprinter bus collided into the rear of a petrol tanker. The impact caused severe damage to the back of the bus, initially raising concerns about possible fatalities.
Firefighters from the Peki Fire Station, led by LFM Prosper Klo, responded quickly and began rescue efforts upon arrival. With the use of specialized extrication tools, they managed to free passengers who were trapped in the wreckage.
According to a statement released by the GNFS on Sunday, March 22, all 12 passengers—including a five-month-old baby—were successfully rescued and taken to the Peki Government Hospital for treatment.
District Fire Officer ADOI Godwin Gbedemah also provided technical assistance during the operation, helping to ensure a smooth and effective rescue.
