Africans must unite in remembrance of Nkrumah

The Afro-Continental Union Consult, a think tank, has called on Africans to use the remembrance of Ghana’s First President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s birthday, as an awakening call to unite as one people.

Dr. Benjamin Aziginaataeg, the Chief Executive Officer of the Afro-Continental Union Consult, speaking with the Ghana News Agency on commemoration of Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day, said, “Africa must unite now or perish.”

Dr. Aziginaataeg said unity was the only clarion call invoked in Africa for a safe society, noting that those who are ready and faithful to the genuine cause of a continental union government should bottle up and focus to help complete the construction of the United States of Africa.

According to him, the only sincere, heartfelt celebration of the annual earth day of Nkrumah in itself constitutes a huge worldwide crusade on Africa to unite now.

“Each annual celebration is a forward march to the African Union to be transformed into a people’s-centered continental union government now,” he said.

The Nkrumahist stressed that the day must be used to reflect on the more than six decades of an initiation to unite amidst neo-colonial daily strangulation and squeezing of the vast majority of the people of Africa through the conduits of contemporary workshops.

According to him, the future of the growing populated youth of Africa is getting dark, as they do not have the assurance and hope for a better life on the continent unless there is the establishment of a purposefully directed African unity.

“The youth are saying that Africa should unite to enjoy numerous benefits inherent; that the pan-African activists should critically examine and redefine themselves with a prepared open-mind to continue from our forebears.”

Dr. Aziginaataeg further noted that most of African youth are saying that their counterparts in Europe, China, Japan, and South Korea, among others, have been secured through an identified territorial unity and secured with good packages of social, security, and welfare systems.

He emphasised that Africa must purposefully unite to assure the youth of the benefits of their own resources on the land of their birth and give assured hope to the majority of the helpless Africans worldwide.

“Africa resides in them, and they are the concrete of Africa; the continent stands to disappear completely with the disappearance of the youth of Africa. Henceforth the youth of Africa must be conscious of their responsibilities to save Africa’s future.
