    All five NDC Women Parliamentary candidates win seats in W/R

    The five women who contested the parliamentary seats on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket in the Western Region (WR) have won their respective seats.

    Mrs Dorcas Affo-Toffey, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro Constituency, polled 25,349 votes to beat three other contenders.

    They were Mr Paul Essien of the New patriotic party (NPP), who had 14,195 votes, Nana Blay Miezah of the CPP had 305, and Madam Samia Nkrumah, an independent candidate, polled 8,059.

    In the Ahanta West Constituency, Mrs Mavis Kuka Bissue, a first timer, polled 28,277 votes to beat Mr Francis Eric Pobee of the NPP who had 19,663.

    Madam Emelia Arthur, former Deputy Western Regional Minister, polled 22,043 votes to beat Mr Isaac Kwamina Afful of the NPP with 17,072 votes.

    Dr Grace Ayensu Danquah, who contested the seat in the 2020 election and lost with a small margin, managed to snatch the Essikado-Ketan seat from the NPP with 26,166 votes to beat Mr Charles Bissue, former NPP regional Secretary, who polled 17,754.

    Mrs Joana Gyan Cudjoe took the Amenfi Central seat with 26,375 votes, beating two other contenders to it.
