Mr. Asamoah Gyan, a former skipper of the Ghana Black Stars, has led the All Regional Games torch to the Oti Regional capital, Dambai.
He said the goal of all Regional Games would define Ghana’s sporting strength in the coming years.
Mr. Gyan, who held several meetings with sports administrators, enthusiasts and media personnel, said all the regions would be participating and best players in the various disciplines would have the opportunity to be selected.
He said games such as para-athletes, basketball, long tennis, table tennis, volleyball, arm wrestling, boxing among other sports would be held.
Deputy Superintendent of Prisons (DSP), Mr Daniel Machator (Rtd), the Oti Regional Minister-designate, commended the football legend and his entourage for the bold initiatives.
He said football was a full body work out, promoting muscle growth, bone density and joint flexibility.
DSP Machator (Rtd) noted that football played a vital role in nurturing mental well being among youngster, adding that, team sports such as football teach important life skills like teamwork, communication, leadership and time management.
“As players collaborate to achieve a common goal, they learn to value individual strengths while acknowledging the significance of collective effort”.
DSP Machator (Rtd) called for the need for more investment in sports Infrastructure and programs to lift the new region.
Mr. Gyan holds the record as Ghana’s all time top scorer with 51 goals in 109 appearances, aims to discover talented players, who would go all the way to reach his level and beyond.
