The Assemblyman for Ketsi-Nkwanta has appealed for improved telecommunication networks in his electoral area, highlighting the community’s neglect in terms of development.

This neglect has resulted in limited access to essential services and opportunities and hindering the community’s growth and progress.

Mr Kennedy Akoto, the Assembly member of Nsuta Bume East, a remote Electoral Area under Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region, said the lack of reliable communication networks made it challenging for residents to access vital information, connect with authorities, and report issues affecting their daily lives.

Mr Akoto explained that the isolation had led to inadequate road network, education, economic opportunities and perpetuating the cycle of under-development.

The Assemblyman’s plea echoes concerns raised by his people, who emphasize the critical role of communication in facilitating social development, adding that, effective communication networks can empower communities, promote participation and drive social change.

“By addressing the communication network gap, the assemblyman hopes to bridge the development divide and unlock the community’s potential.”

Mr Akoto appeal serves as a call to action for stakeholders, including government agencies, telecommunication companies, and authorities in the region to collaborate and improve the communication infrastructure in Ketsi-Nkwanta.

Torgbe Victor Azameti Victor, the headman of Ketsi-Nkwanta in an engagement with the Ghana Nwes Agency said, the residents continue to struggle to access telecommunication networks, despite numerous appeals to various stakeholders, District Chief Executives and member of parliament (MPs) to help enhance telecom network.

He said the lack of a communication network in the area was hindering the community’s socio-econimic development,as residents are deprived of digital access and must travel several kilometers to access telephone services.

Torgbe Azameti highlighted the village’s concerns and lamented that the inhabitants live in constant fear due to the delays they experience when reporting crime issues.

The headman said Education in Ketsi-Nkwanta community is also impeded, as teachers refuse to accept posting to the area.

The few teachers who do accept postings struggle to teach subjects such as ICT and many others.
