There has been wild jubilations at Atebubu in the Bono East Region, following the nomination of Mr Francis Owusu Antwi, a native of the town as the Bono East Regional Minister-designate.

Some of the jubilant who could not hide their joy expressed their heartfelt appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for nominating an indigene and a royal of the town to oversee the affairs of the region. The Minister-designate is popularly known as “Kujo Justus” and is a biological son of the late Nana Owusu Achiaw Brempong II, the immediate past Paramount Chief of the Atebubu Traditional Area. Currently, he works at the Yapra Rural Bank PLC as the Credit Manager stationed at the bank’s head office in Prang in the Pru West District of the region.

He is also the Bono East Regional Finance Committee Chairman of the National Democratic Congress. In an interview, some of the jubilant, Kwadwo Gyan and Felicia Amoakoaa, all residents of Atebubu told the Ghana News Agency that the nomination of Mr Antwi came as a surprise to them, as most of them tipped him for the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Chief Executive position.

They expressed their confidence in the President nominee, hoping that he tackled the perennial water problem in the area. Other residents, Mr Ahmed Fuseini, Frimpong Adubufour, Clement Owusu and Marian Gyambea who were sighted jubilating, said they were highly excited, noting that as a native, the President nominee would do more to tackle the pressing needs of the people.

The President nominee, Mr. Antwi had since his nomination visited Ohempon Yeboah Asiamah the Paramount Chief of Atebubu Traditional Area and Nana Owusu Sakyi III, the Paramount Chief of Bassa Traditional Area, also the President of Bono East Regional House of Chiefs to seek their blessings.
