Madam Rhoda Akueteh, the Ayawaso Central NCCE Municipal Director, who made the call, said that the peace dialogue was orgarnised to drum home the peace message for a desire outcome because of some hotspots in the municipality.

She said the need for peace in the coming elections could not be overemphasized in view of the complex dynamics and the high stakes at play.

She called on all well-meaning candidates and their followers to give peace a chance by refraining from all acts and comments that would destabilize the existing peaceful co-existence.

Madam Lydia Anom, the Municipal Electoral Officer, indicated that the Electoral Commission was 95 per cent ready to conduct the elections on the scheduled constitutional date.

According to her, this time around, party agents and hordes of people would not be given access to the collation centres, adding that only presiding officers would be allowed to take the collated results at the polling station to the collation centres.

Superintendent Augustina Enti, the Kotobabi Police Commander, said the Police were adequately prepared with the necessary logistics to provide security before, during and after the elections.

She said her outfit would patrol polling stations and possibly arrest any miscreant found trying to mar the sanctity of the electoral process.

Supt Enti appealed to the youth to refrain from allowing themselves to be used as agents for violence and lawlessness, adding that no individual caught violating the laws would be spared irrespective of their political affiliation.

Nii Kpowulunor III, the Chairman of the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee and Kokomlemle family head, appealed to all parties and their followers to see each other as one people and shirk all acts that would mar the beauty of the electoral process.

He urged all citizens to partake in the election by exercising their franchise to enable them to have a say in who was entrusted with the destiny of the country.

Mr. Osman Mohammed, President of the Ayawaso Central Person’s with Disability Association, called on all stakeholders in the election to sustain the gains of the country’s democracy by always preaching peace.

He cautioned principal actors in the election to mind their utterances and avoid making divisive statements that could stoke tensions among voters.

Imam Amin Nassirudeen, an Executive Member of the IPDC, appealed to the Muslim community to live by the tenets of Islam, which advocates peaceful co-existence in all human relations.

He cautioned the Zongo youth not to give in to unscrupulous persons seeking their selfish interest who might engage them in electoral violence and other illegal activities, adding that they will suffer the legal consequences if they follow that course of action.
