    Beach Soccer: Havedzi Mighty Warriors win 2022/2023 PL trophy

    Havedzi Mighty Warriors Beach Soccer Club in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region has clinched the 2023/2024 edition of the Beach Soccer Premier league title for a record second time in the history of the league at Ada Beach Soccer Arena in the Greater Region.

    Havedzi Mighty Warriors, the winners of Premier league zone two defeated Accra based Layoca Beach Soccer Club of zone one by a 5-2 goal margin to win the trophy. Mr Innocent Ku-Mensah, Player Coach of Havedzi Mighty Warriors, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), stated that the victory demonstrated hard work, dedication and discipline exhibited the players and the entire management committee of the team.

    “We have been preparing for this final since the end of the zonal league matches in October last year and it is a plus to win the trophy for the second time to make history in Ghana beach soccer league,” he said.

    Mr Ku-Mensah said that the club would work tirelessly to scout and unearth more talents in the sports to retain the trophy in the 2025 beach soccer league season and called on all players, management committee members and the supporters to be ready for the task ahead.

    He thanked all the various groups and individuals who supported the team to the victory and commended Beach Soccer Premier league planning committee for organising the games that would pave the way for the next league season.

    Mr Nii Laryea Bonney, the Head coach of Layoca Beach Soccer Club, said that the final was keenly contested, while the strategies and the game tactics could not meet their expectations. “Congratulation to Havedzi Mighty Warriors Beach Soccer Club for winning the trophy, l know we could have done better than this but l promise, we will go back to the drawing board, correct the mistakes and come back stronger next season.”

    Mr. Reuben Dzidodo Adjahoe, the Volta Regional Football Association Beach Soccer Committee Chair, congratulated Havedzi Mighty Warriors for the victory and urged stakeholders, cooperate organizations and individuals to assist the teams from the region for the progress and development of the sports. Havedzi Mighty Warriors Beach Soccer Club qualified to the 2024 beach Soccer finals from zone two after playing 15 matches with nine wins, two draws and four losses respectively and scored 46 goals, considered 39 goals, and gathered 29 points during the season.

    Havedzi Mighty Warriors were the second most successive beach Soccer club with two Premiere League trophies, with Keta Sunset Sports and Ada Assurance having three and one trophies, respectively. The club received a trophy, a cash prize, while Mawukoenya Johnson Nyadedzor was awarded as the Most Valuable Player of the season, Innocent Kumensah Kwadzo was the Best Coach while Sosu Mawuli was the Top Goal Scorer.
