First Sky Group has revealed plans to construct and commission a 50-megawatt solar power plant in Yendi, Northern Region, by the second quarter of 2026. The announcement was made at the company’s 23rd anniversary celebration, which was attended by President John Dramani Mahama and other prominent religious and traditional leaders.
Speaking at the event, the Founder and Group Chairman, Apostle Eric Seddy Kutortse, said the project, which will be undertaken in collaboration with the Bui Power Authority, will help strengthen Ghana’s energy supply and support the country’s transition to renewable energy. The project will include the engineering, procurement, construction, and financing of the solar facility.
He also noted that First Sky Group has invested over GH¢51 million in providing free dialysis treatment at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital over the past eight years. With the government now covering dialysis treatment under the Mahama Cares initiative, the company has shifted its focus to supporting kidney transplants, successfully sponsoring six procedures in Ghana last year.
President Mahama, who was the guest of honour, commended First Sky Group for its contribution to healthcare and encouraged other corporate bodies to emulate the initiative. He also announced that the government has set aside GH¢2.5 billion for the Mahama Cares programme this year and plans to roll out a nationwide primary healthcare initiative before the end of the year.
