The 2026 Artiste of the Year race just got hotter!
Ghanaian rap star Kwesi Arthur has officially thrown his weight behind Black Sherif, declaring him the clear favourite for the biggest award at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
In a viral Instagram reel posted by popular clips page @madeinghanaclips (caption: “Kwesi Arthur’s pick for artiste of the year”), the “Okay Switch” hitmaker made his prediction during a live Twitch stream with Made In Ghana on April 16, 2026.
“Looking at the year under review, I think Black Sherif should be Artiste of the Year. If he doesn’t win, we go riot!”
Kwesi didn’t stop there he also gave credit where it’s due, noting that Medikal had an equally strong year. But when it comes to the top spot, his money is on Blacko.
The short reel has already sparked massive debate across Ghanaian social media, with fans tagging it as the official start of the TGMA prediction season.
    Why Black Sherif? Kwesi’s Reasoning

According to Kwesi, Black Sherif’s consistency, cultural impact, and undeniable run over the past 12 months put him head and shoulders above the competition. This comes as TGMA nominations have already dropped, featuring heavyweights like:

    • Black Sherif
    • Medikal
    • Stonebwoy
    • Sarkodie
    • and more

The streets are loud, and Kwesi Arthur a respected voice in Ghanaian music — has now made his stance crystal clear.
