Brisk final preparations are currently underway at Victoria Park, the designated venue for this year’s Oguaa Fetu Afahye celebration.
Traders peddling a variety of commodities ranging from culinary delights to confections, as well as political party memorabilia, are capitalising on the event.
Several thoroughfares have been cordoned off, with security personnel stationed to facilitate smooth traffic flow and maintain law and order.
Notable road closures include the Bakaano roundabout leading to the Victoria Park stretch, the path from Heritage House through Chapel Square to Victoria Park and the route from Cape Coast Castle drive via the court complex to Victoria Park.
By 10:00hrs, approximately 10 per cent of the venue’s capacity had already been filled, resonating the harmonious Asafo chants emanating from Fantiland.
Mr Daniel Amoah, a resident of Abura Dunkwa, undertook a journey of about 45 kilometers to Cape Coast in anticipation of catching a glimpse of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the revered Asantehene.
The festival is set to commence in the afternoon with the Asantehene as the distinguished guest of honor.
Prominent political figures are expected to grace the occasion as hundreds of patrons flock to the historic city of Cape Coast to partake in the renowned Oguaa Fetu Afahye.
On Friday, the Orange Street Carnival pulled a massive patron.
This carnival, indisputably Ghana’s largest, attracts more than two hundred thousand visitors to Cape Coast annually to revel in the vibrant costumes, elaborate floats, and street festivities.
Initiated a decade ago, this year’s celebration has garnered the interest of numerous brands, institutions, and individuals who seized the opportunity to exhibit and promote their products and services to the celebrants.
