CAMFED-Ghana Association (CAMA) has supported girls and boys through the CAMA Foundation to enhance quality education for young people in rural areas.

Ms. Shakiru Ali Pelpuo, National Secretary, CAMA said the support included payment of school fees and renovation of structures of some selected schools in communities through CAMA district initiatives.

She said this during the CAMA’s Annual General Meeting, held in Tamale on the theme: “Advancing the CAMFED Guide Programme Strategies to Achieve Targets.”

The AGM was to discuss strategies that would assist the Association to advance its activities.

Ms. Pelpuo said CAMA had offered practical support to young girls and boys to ensure that they stayed in school, succeeded academically and transitioned to other pathways.

She said CAMA had also assisted its members with entrepreneurship programmes to empower them economically.

Ms. Pelpuo said some of the CAMA members had also joined CAMFED’s Agriculture Guide Programme to assist rural women farmers to adopt climate-smart techniques including mulching, drought-resistant crops, and solar powered irrigation.

She said the programme was to boost productivity and enhance food security in the districts.

Ms. Ramatu Abubakari, Chairperson of CAMA said CAMA members were business leaders, creating jobs and using some of their profits to support more vulnerable children to succeed.
