As cyberattacks targeting governments, financial institutions and critical infrastructure escalate globally, organisations in Ghana’s public and private sectors are stepping up efforts to reinforce the security and resilience of their digital systems.

In response to this growing challenge, Cloudflare, a global connectivity and cybersecurity company, partnered with Comsec Technology Solutions to host a three-day cybersecurity seminar series in Accra.

The event aimed to strengthen cyber resilience and safeguard Ghana’s expanding digital economy from increasingly sophisticated threats, particularly large-scale Distributed Denial‑of‑Service (DDoS) attacks designed to disrupt online services.

The seminar coincides with Cloudflare’s continued expansion of its global network infrastructure, including the establishment of network nodes in Accra. These nodes help provide faster, more reliable and more secure internet connectivity across Ghana and the wider West African region by addressing cyber threats closer to their source.

    Building collaboration for national cybersecurity

The seminar series brought together technology leaders, cybersecurity experts and senior decision-makers from organisations that play key roles in Ghana’s digital ecosystem.

Participants included representatives from financial institutions, government agencies, telecommunications providers and other critical service sectors.

A senior official from the Cyber Security Authority also addressed participants, emphasising the need for stronger collaboration between government bodies, global technology providers and local industry players to create a safer digital environment for the country.

    Addressing growing cyber threats

During the sessions, Cloudflare specialists provided insights into emerging global cybersecurity threats, with particular attention to the growing frequency and scale of DDoS attacks aimed at overwhelming online platforms.

They also demonstrated modern, automated solutions designed to secure web applications, APIs and internet-facing services against such disruptions.

Experts from Comsec Technology Solutions complemented these discussions with practical insights into implementing cybersecurity solutions within the Ghanaian and West African context. They shared examples of organisations that have strengthened their security frameworks to better withstand cyber threats.

    Industry perspectives

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Comsec Technology Solutions, Boaz Alon, highlighted how cybersecurity has evolved beyond a technical concern to become a fundamental requirement for organisational stability and national trust.

He noted that initiatives such as the seminar help combine global expertise with local experience to equip Ghanaian organisations with the knowledge needed to remain resilient in an increasingly complex digital environment.

Adding a global perspective, Graham Turnbull emphasised the company’s mission to build a faster and more secure internet. He noted that Cloudflare’s partnership with Comsec and its infrastructure investment in Accra are helping provide Ghanaian organisations with the tools needed to defend against advanced cyber threats while ensuring uninterrupted digital services.

    Sector-focused discussions

The seminar also featured specialised sessions tailored to critical sectors.

These included discussions on financial system protection, which focused on securing banking applications, safeguarding transaction data and ensuring regulatory compliance. Separate sessions also addressed cybersecurity for government and public institutions responsible for managing sensitive national data and maintaining the availability of essential public services.

The initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of both Comsec Technology Solutions and Cloudflare to support Ghana with advanced cybersecurity expertise and modern technologies aimed at protecting the country’s digital future.
