The Sekondi High Court, presided over by Justice Dr Richard Osei Hwere has quashed the application by the National Democratic Congress for the court to declare an application to declare the election of the Jomoro MP Dorcas Affo-Toffey as null and void a “No case”.

At the sitting,  Justice Dr Richard Osei Hwere asked the MP to produce evidence to back her claim of renunciation of the Ivorian citizenship in ten days.

The judge in his ruling said that since the lawmaker had accepted that she had Ivorian citizenship, she should be given an opportunity to produce evidence of her renunciation.

In a writ filed by one Joshua Emuah Kwofie, a resident of Nuba-Mpataba, to the Sekondi High Court, he challenged the qualification of the MP on the basis of holding dual citizenship, thus Ghanaian and Ivorian.

In view of this, he sought to have the results of the 2020 parliamentary elections of Jomoro constituency annulled, contrary to the country’s laws.
