The Digicoast has launched the NeuroCoders Initiative, a flagship programme designed to equip autistic and dyslexic youth with digital skills and create pathways into the technology industry.
The initiative, introduced at the Accra Digital Centre, is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts and is supported by Zeroth Business Solutions Limited. It is being implemented under the theme “Unlocking Digital Potential Beyond the Spectrum.”
Founder and CEO Gordon Fiifi Donkor explained that the programme aims to close the digital inclusion gap by providing structured IT training, mentorship, and job placement opportunities for neurodiverse individuals. He noted that many people within this group possess unique cognitive strengths that remain underutilised due to limited access to opportunities.
The initiative will focus on developing future-ready digital skills and connecting participants to mentors in specialised fields such as software engineering and data engineering, helping them transition into real-world roles within the tech ecosystem.
Also speaking at the event, Marilyn Marbell Wilson of Mission Paediatrics described the programme as timely, highlighting the strengths of neurodiverse individuals, including attention to detail, pattern recognition, and strong memory—skills that are highly valuable in the digital sector.
She emphasised that initiatives like NeuroCoders can help unlock the potential of neurodiverse youth, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s digital economy.
The programme reflects growing efforts to promote inclusivity in Ghana’s tech space by recognising and harnessing diverse talents to drive innovation and development.
