The Dr Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe Health Centre was officially opened on Monday, marking a major step forward in healthcare delivery for the Ateitu community in the Effutu Constituency.

The newly commissioned facility, furnished with modern medical equipment, honours the legacy of Dr Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe, whose lifelong dedication to serving the community inspired the project.

The centre is equipped with a hematology analyzer, microscopes, wheelchairs, delivery beds, delivery sets, a pharmacy stocked with essential medicines, oxygen cylinders, examination couches, and hospital beds fitted with drip stands. It also features ramps to accommodate the elderly and persons with disabilities.

Speaking at the commissioning, Mr Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the Member of Parliament for Effutu and Minority Leader, expressed appreciation to the technical team, the municipal health director, and others who supported the project. He urged residents to be active citizens and report challenges for prompt attention.

He described the commissioning as the fulfillment of his commitment to bringing quality healthcare closer to the people of Effutu, and encouraged continuous collaboration to advance development in the constituency.

Dr Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe, in whose honour the centre was named, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MP, acknowledging the recognition of his years of service. He called on residents to continue contributing to the development of the constituency.

Nana Obosu II, Chief of Ateitu and Apedwahene of the Effutu Traditional Area, commended the MP for the initiative, assuring that the community would help safeguard the facility.

Dr Paulette Brown, Effutu Municipal Director of Health, stressed the centre’s significance in moving the area closer to universal health coverage, noting the need for strong collaboration among health workers, partners, and residents.

Reverend Atta Mensah, the Municipal Chief Executive, also praised the achievement, describing it as an important contribution to the Ghana Health Service’s pursuit of universal health coverage. He further commended the MP for his extensive development work in the constituency, which he said aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s broader agenda.
