Ghanaian rapper Kweku Smoke (@kwekusmoke_) is receiving widespread praise after stepping in to cover the full medical cost for Osman Awudu Abu, a final-year BA History student at KNUST, who urgently needed GH¢66,000 for life-saving spinal surgery.

Osman, whose condition was reportedly worsening, had appealed to the public for support as doctors warned of the risk of permanent nerve damage and possible loss of mobility if the surgery wasn’t performed before the end of July 2025. The student’s plea quickly gained traction on social media, where many rallied to amplify his voice in hopes of finding help in time.

Among those who saw the post was Kweku Smoke, who quote-posted the appeal with a powerful and simple message:

    “I will pay it” 🙏

With that, the artist committed to covering the full cost of the procedure—no crowdfunding, no conditions, just action.

The news has since gone viral, with fans and fellow Ghanaians commending Kweku Smoke not just for his generosity, but for stepping in quietly yet decisively at a time when many talk about change but few take direct action. The gesture highlights the impact artists can have beyond the music, using their platforms for real-life transformation.

Social media has been flooded with messages of gratitude and admiration, with many calling him a “real one” and a “hero off the mic.”

As Osman prepares for his surgery, his life may be forever changed—not just by the medical procedure, but by the compassion of someone who chose to act when it mattered most.
