The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has received essential operational equipment valued at GH¢1,774,000 from the German Government to support its mandate of strengthening national security and enhancing border management. The items were handed over at a brief ceremony held at the GIS National Headquarters in Accra.
The consignment includes a 16-seater Foton View CS2 bus, laptops, tablets, printers, helmets, and bulletproof vests—resources expected to significantly boost the Service’s operational efficiency and improve officers’ safety, especially along high-risk border zones.
Receiving the equipment, the Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Samuel Basintale Amadu, expressed deep appreciation to the German Government for its continuous support toward enhancing Ghana’s border security architecture.
He highlighted the long-standing partnership between the two institutions and noted that the donation will play a crucial role in strengthening operations—particularly along the volatile northern frontier.
“This donation will greatly enhance our efficiency and the quality of our service delivery. We assure the German Embassy that these items will substantially augment the execution of our mandate,” the CGI stated.
Leading the German delegation was Holger Grossman, the German Defence Attaché to Ghana. In his remarks, he reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting Ghana in maintaining secure and well-managed borders.
He said the donation underscores Germany’s confidence in the GIS and aligns with ongoing capacity-building efforts.
“Germany is proud to stand with Ghana in building safe, secure, and well-managed borders. We look forward to stronger cooperation in the years ahead,” he added.
The gesture further deepens the cooperation between Ghana and Germany in the areas of security, migration management, and regional stability.
