Ghana and South Korea have signed a historic visa waiver agreement for holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports, marking a significant milestone in relations between the two countries.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Africa-Korea Foreign Ministers Meeting by Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and his South Korean counterpart, Cho Hyun.
Announcing the development, Mr. Ablakwa described the agreement as a major achievement in Ghana-South Korea relations, noting that it is the first visa waiver arrangement reached by the two nations in nearly five decades of diplomatic ties.
He revealed that discussions are continuing to expand the visa-free arrangement to include holders of Ordinary Passports, a move expected to further boost travel, trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Under the newly signed agreement, holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports from both Ghana and South Korea will be able to travel between the two countries without obtaining visas.
The arrangement is expected to facilitate official travel, strengthen diplomatic cooperation, and deepen bilateral relations while opening the door for broader collaboration in the future.
