Ghanaian gospel music veteran Bernice Offei has reportedly passed away at the age of 63. She is said to have died on the morning of Saturday, September 12, 2026.
Throughout her music career, Offei released six studio albums, with her sixth project, Life, released in 2007. The album earned her two honours at the 2009 Ghana Music Awards — Best Female Vocal Performance and Songwriter of the Year.
Beyond music, Offei was also a career banker and worked for several years with Standard Chartered Bank. She was highly educated, holding an MPhil in Crop Science from the University of Ghana and an MSc in Information Technology from a university in the United Kingdom.
On September 1, 2026, reports emerged that she had gone missing after she was last seen in Accra. Her family and local authorities, however, confirmed within 24 hours that she had been found safe.
Following news of her death, tributes have started pouring in from members of Ghana’s gospel music community and admirers beyond the country.
May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may God grant her family and loved ones strength and comfort during this difficult time.
