The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has partially shut down Kitea Furniture and Decoration on Spintex after discovering technical issues with the company’s implementation of the Electronic VAT (e-VAT) system.
Kitea has been directed to resolve the challenges by the close of business on Friday, December 12, or face a complete seal-off.
The move was part of a broader enforcement exercise in which GRA officials visited five companies as part of efforts to strengthen tax compliance.
Speaking to the media after the operation, Joseph Adjeikwei Annan, Assistant Commissioner for the Accra Central Area Enforcement Unit, cautioned businesses against concealing financial records.
“If you think you can hide records, I assure you, once I project, you’ll have to produce them. And when I project, the figures will be so high you won’t be able to pay. Consider this a warning to all—if you hide records, your problems will multiply,” he warned.
The enforcement team noted that Kitea’s last VAT invoice was issued on November 28, 2025, indicating a break in compliance.
This action forms part of GRA’s intensified tax enforcement campaign aimed at improving adherence to tax laws.
