Guinness Ghana has unveiled a significant new investment in the country’s music industry by enhancing the prize package for the Album/EP of the Year category at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

In a statement released on April 15, the company announced that starting from the 27th edition in 2026, winners of the category will receive a cash prize of GH¢100,000. In addition to the monetary reward, the winning artiste will get support for producing a music video for their next project, along with curated business insights from Guinness Ghana to guide their creative and commercial growth.

The initiative is aimed at extending support beyond the awards night by delivering long-term value to artistes and strengthening Ghana’s creative ecosystem.

According to Yaa Amoah-Owusu, the category represents the highest level of artistic expression, highlighting storytelling, originality, and a cohesive body of work. She noted that the enhanced package is designed to reward excellence while investing in the future of both the artiste and the industry.

As a long-time partner of the TGMA, Guinness Ghana’s move further elevates the relevance of the Album/EP of the Year category and underscores its commitment to supporting the creative arts, particularly as albums and EPs regain importance in the music space.

Beyond financial support, the package also includes a listening experience component to boost audience engagement, industry connections, and visibility for the winner’s future projects—helping artistes compete on a global scale.

Nominees for the 2026 category include Black Sherif (Iron Boy), Stonebwoy, Gyakie (After Midnight), Medikal (Disturbation II), Wendy Shay (Ready), and Kweku Smoke (Walk With Me).

Reacting to the announcement, Robert Klah of Charterhouse Productions described the initiative as timely and impactful, noting that it aligns with efforts to celebrate Ghanaian music while providing meaningful support to artistes.

The 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards is scheduled to take place on May 9, 2026.
