Madam Faustina Amegashie, DDNS, Public Health Unit, Volta Regional Hospital, Hohoe, said the Week-long celebration was important and urged parents to endeavour to avail themselves of their wards to benefit from services to be rendered to ensure their good health. She said breastfeeding was important in the child’s development, hence mothers needed to adhere to healthy procedures of breastfeeding their children, especially the ages advised for breastfeeding.

Madam Amegashie said sleeping under treated mosquito nets would prevent the mother and child from malaria hence mothers needed to ensure that the mosquito nets they received were put into use for their protection. She urged mothers to educate each other on the importance of quality health to themselves and of their children.

Mr Evans Zineyele, Hohoe Municipal Disease Control Officer launching the Week on behalf of the Municipal Director of Health Services, commended the support of stakeholders while expressing hope towards the success of the week-long activities.

Mama Dzitri II, Queen of Wli Agorviefe, admonished mothers to always benefit from health programmes to ensure the healthy living of their children and themselves. The celebration which also marked the African Vaccination Week is themed: “Every child deserves a healthy future; Invest in your child, attend Weighing regularly”.
