As part of a one-day working visit to the Western Region, the Governing Board of the Ghana National Gas Company met with the KARPOWERSHIP’s management to improve operational collaboration and evaluate ongoing service delivery.

Supervised by the Hon. Kofi Totobi Quakyi, the board’s general familiarization tour since taking office includes this visit. The delegation, which included key members of management, began its engagement with Takoradi office staff by discussing policy resets and aligning the workforce with the company’s strategic goals.

In a show of regional solidarity, the board also paid a courtesy call on Nana Kobina Nketsiah V, President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, at his palace in Essikadu. The visit served as a platform to deliberate on development concerns affecting the region, especially issues tied to energy infrastructure and social impact.

A significant portion of the visit was dedicated to inspecting operational sites within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis. At the Takoradi Distribution Station (TDS), workers raised concerns about logistical and welfare challenges they experienced under the previous administration, calling for renewed attention to staff well-being and equipment support.

The day’s activities climaxed with a high-level engagement between Ghana Gas officials and the management team of the KARPOWER SHIP. Ghana Gas currently supplies between 80 and 90 million standard cubic feet of gas per day to the 470-megawatt power station, which contributes approximately 23% of electricity to Ghana’s national grid.

The power ship’s management thanked Ghana Gas for its dependability and prompt fuel delivery in a statement released on July 18. KARPOWER CEO, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay assured stakeholders of consistent performance to ensure a stable power supply for the nation and expressed satisfaction with the partnership.

Hon. Chairman of the Board Totobi Quakyi reaffirmed the board’s commitment to reorganizing Ghana Gas for operational efficiency to both internal stakeholders and external partners. He emphasized the significance of concentrating on the core mission of the company while simultaneously improving the well-being of both technical and non-technical employees.
