The Member of Parliament for Lawra, Bede Ziedeng, has contributed medical equipment valued at GH¢45,000 to the Eremon Health Facility in the Upper West Region, aiming to enhance healthcare services in the area.
The donation includes essential items such as an oxygen cylinder, delivery set, digital blood pressure monitor, suction machine, microscope, patient trolley, patient monitor set, and other consumables to improve the facility’s capacity to provide critical medical care.
The initiative addresses long-standing concerns from residents of communities like Domwine and Eremon, where limited infrastructure and inadequate equipment have hampered effective healthcare delivery. Frequent referrals to other towns have increased the financial burden on households, while the lack of resident nurses previously led to long waiting times, as health workers had to commute from Jirapa.
In addition to supplying medical equipment, MP Ziedeng facilitated the rehabilitation of a previously dilapidated nurses’ bungalow, providing accommodation for health personnel and ensuring more timely and efficient service.
Phoebe Balagumyetime, Lawra Municipal Director of Health Services, welcomed the intervention, highlighting that strengthening peripheral health facilities is vital to easing the workload of the main hospital, which continues to operate under limited staffing.
