President John Dramani Mahama has made further changes to his administration, reassigning Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi from the Ministry of Defence to the Presidency.

Mr Brogya Genfi has been appointed Adviser on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness after serving as Deputy Minister for Defence since March 2025.

In another change, Emmanuel Agyekum, Minister of State in charge of Special Initiatives, has been removed from the position and reassigned to head the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment.

He will be replaced by Dr Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo.

The latest changes constitute the second ministerial reshuffle of President Mahama’s second term. The first was announced on August 7, 2026.

The earlier reshuffle included the reassignment of Kenneth Gilbert Adjei from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources to the Ministry of Defence.

Ahmed Ibrahim was also moved from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to take charge of the Works, Housing and Water Resources portfolio.

The latest appointments and reassignments are expected to further realign responsibilities within the Mahama administration as the government continues to adjust its ministerial structure.
