Medikal Slams TV3 Over Grammy Talk: “Don’t Play My Music Again!”

Ghanaian rapper Medikal has taken to social media to fiercely lash out at media house TV3 following a controversial segment aired on their platform. The explosive rant, which was posted on Medikal’s official X (Twitter) account, came shortly after TV3 shared a video from their entertainment segment “CHOICES,” where a guest made bold claims about Ghana’s chances at the Grammys — and took a direct swipe at rapper Sarkodie in the process.

In the video that sparked the outrage, the guest openly stated that Sarkodie’s career is “dead” and went on to add that no Ghanaian artiste currently has what it takes to win a Grammy. The remarks quickly caught fire across social media, igniting debates among fans and industry players.

But it was Medikal’s raw and unfiltered reaction that has stolen the spotlight.

“Dumbass station, stupid ass admin, foolish boy! Nonsense camera man, everybody for TV3 ein moda! Make una no play my music again. Kwasiafoɔ, ehiafoɔ, mboa!” — Medikal ranted on X.

Clearly upset, Medikal took personal offense at the segment — even though he wasn’t the direct target of the comment. For him, it was about respect for Ghanaian artists, particularly a legend like Sarkodie, who has played a major role in pushing Ghanaian rap to the global stage.

While the language in Medikal’s tweet was aggressive, his message was rooted in frustration over what he perceives as media platforms tearing down local talents instead of uplifting them.

Medikal, known for his loyalty to fellow artists and the rap game, has always emphasized unity within the creative space. His tweet, though heated, reflects a growing sentiment among some artists — that media criticism in Ghana often lacks constructive value and sometimes crosses the line into disrespect.

TV3 has not issued an official response as of yet, but the platform is facing backlash from sections of the public who believe the segment was unnecessarily harsh, especially the remark about Sarkodie’s career.

Others, however, argue that the guest was simply expressing his opinion — and in a space like “CHOICES,” where hot takes are expected, not everyone will agree with every viewpoint shared.

The incident raises larger questions about the relationship between artists and media, the boundaries of critique, and how public platforms shape the narratives around Ghanaian music. While Medikal’s words may be controversial, his passion for defending Ghanaian music is evident.

As the dust settles, fans and industry stakeholders alike will be watching closely to see how TV3 responds — and whether this moment sparks a larger conversation about how we support, critique, and uplift Ghanaian artists striving for global recognition.

Stay tuned to KAK NEWS for all updates as the story unfolds.
