MTN Ghana has launched a new fibre broadband service for households, aimed at providing reliable, high-speed internet connectivity and enabling subscribers to transform their homes into digital workspaces and business hubs.
The service, known as Smart Home, is designed to support Ghana’s growing digital economy by providing families, students, remote workers and entrepreneurs with fast and stable internet access for work, learning, business and entertainment.
The announcement was made by MTN Ghana’s Chief Home Officer, Richard Acheampong, during the company’s Bright Conversations forum held at MTN House in Accra.
Bridging Ghana’s Digital Divide
Mr Acheampong explained that the introduction of fibre broadband for homes forms part of MTN’s wider commitment to expanding access to quality internet services and bridging the digital divide in Ghana.
He said the service would give subscribers the flexibility to use their homes as extensions of their workplaces or businesses.
“This service gives subscribers the freedom to turn their homes into business annexes. Whether you are running an online store, attending virtual classes, working remotely, or streaming content, Smart Home is built to keep you connected without interruptions,” he said.
According to him, Smart Home has been developed to meet the needs of modern households where multiple devices—including smart televisions, laptops, security cameras and gaming consoles—require constant and reliable connectivity.
Supporting Remote Work and Digital Businesses
MTN Ghana said the service goes beyond entertainment by supporting productivity, entrepreneurship and small businesses operating from home.
Mr Acheampong noted that many Ghanaians now work, study and operate businesses remotely, creating a growing demand for affordable and dependable internet services.
He added that the rise of e-commerce, content creation, fintech and online education presents opportunities for more people to participate in the digital economy through improved home connectivity.
Features of Smart Home Fibre Broadband
According to MTN Ghana, the Smart Home service offers several benefits, including:
- High-speed internet for streaming, gaming and video conferencing;
- Unlimited data options for heavy internet users;
- Low latency for smoother online experiences;
- Support for multiple devices connected simultaneously;

Mr Acheampong stated that the service is designed to make reliable internet more accessible to households across the country while supporting Ghana’s transition towards a more digitally driven economy.
MTN Ghana said Smart Home represents another step in its efforts to provide innovative connectivity solutions that meet the changing needs of individuals, families and businesses in the digital age.
