    NDC female communicators donate to Korle-Bu Cancer Unit

    The National Democratic (NDC) female communicators including Joyce Bawah Mogtari (fmr Deputy Minister of Transport and special aide to John Dramani Mahama), Ruth Dela Seddoh (Dep. National Youth Organiser), Maame Efua Houadjeto (Dep. National Women’s Organiser), Margaret Ansei (Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Suhum) and many others paid a visit to the National Radiotherapy Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Center at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

    The team led by Communications Director of NDC,  Obuobia Darko-Opoku, donated an amount of GHC25,000.00 to 8 patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment at the unit, to help cater for their outstanding bills.

    The team also presented 60 pieces of Papa Jumbo tissue paper, 840 pieces of T-rolls 20 gallons of hand sanitiser, 11 gallons of floor cleaners, 10 gallons of bleach, 3 gallons of antiseptic, 10 gallons of washing soap and 6-floor brushes to the centre.

    The hospital staff at the unit and some patients undergoing treatment at the hospital were refreshed with hot meals.

    Madam Naomi Ohene Oti, head of Nursing at the Oncology Centre received the items on behalf of the centre and expressed gratitude to the NDC female communications team for this kind gesture. She appealed to the public for more support for both breast cancer patients and the centre as a whole.

    According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer is the most common cancer type in females around the World.

    Breast cancer awareness is therefore imperative, as early detection, often through screening, can help detect cancer at a stage when it is easier to treat. It is therefore of essence, that women especially, resort to routine checks, early testing and detection.
