National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ,Mr. Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah says the NDC government recognizes the contribution of the Sacred Action Church in the development of the country.
He said the state would continue to cooperate with the church to foster a holistic and inclusive society. Mr. Asiedu-Nketiah made this known when he led a delegation of executives of the NDC to the final funeral rites of the late Reverend Matthew Blay Andoh, founder of the Sacred Action Church in the Western Region. He died at the age of 103 after a short illness.
Mr. Asiedu-Nketiah was accompanied by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro, Madam Dorcas Afo-Toffey, the Western Regional Chairperson of the Party, Nana Toku, the NDC Regional Chairman of Brong Ahafo, Mr. Nyamekye Marfo, Dr Clement C. Blay, an NDC party member in Ellembelle. Mr. Asiedu-Nketiah described the late Reverend Andoh, the father of the Reverend Francis Andoh, the current President of the church as someone who had made significant contributions to society.
He said though the clergy were not allowed in open politics, the late Reverend Andoh contributions through his son in the U.S ,Mr. Robert Andoh, a staunch NDC supporter in diverse ways when the party needed finance and resources, could not be glossed over.
The NDC National Chairman said through his son in the U.S., the Reverend Andoh had given massive support to the party in Jomoro through pieces of advice and positive direction which made the party stood on its feet in times of crisis. Mr. Asiedu-Nketiah said the son of the Reverend Andoh, also donated two buses to support activities of the party. Mr. Asiedu-Nketiah donated GHc10, 000.00 to the bereaved family.
The MP for Jomoro, Madam Dorcas Afo-Toffey also described the late Reverend Andoh as a unifier who made significant contributions through his son to revive the party when it was in opposition. She donated GHc10,000.00 to the bereaved family. Earlier in a sermon, the Reverend John Essien of the Church reminded people in the world to rededicate their lives to God irrespective of their positions in this life.
He said the riches, glories, and positions of this world, had preoccupied the minds of people which were all vanity. The Reverend Essien said it was better to hate the world and love the things of God to inherit eternity. He described the late Reverend Andoh as a warrior of Jesus Christ who organized and brought the flock together to the saving knowledge of Christ.
In a tribute, the late Reverend Andoh was described as a warrior of Christ Jesus who dedicated his life to the service of God and humanity. He would be remembered for his prayerfulness, kindness, loyalty, and mentorship.
