Mr Nelson Kofi Djabab, National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Krachi East constituency, has appealed for civility in political discourse ahead of the December polls, declaring that “my opponent is not my enemy”.

Mr Djabab told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that many families were divided, marriages breaking, friends becoming enemies and brothers fighting each other because they belonged to different political parties.

He urged party sympathizers across Ghana to engage in constructive debates, focusing on policy differences made by various political parties in terms of development rather than personal attacks.

The NDC PC revealed that his political rival Mr. Michael Yaw Gyato, parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was actually his old schoolmate from Dambai College of Education.

He said despite being on opposite side of the political spectrum vying for Krachi East seat, the two were maintaining a cordial relationship and often doing things together.

In Krachi East as the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections are heating up with pundits providing insights into the potential outcomes, Mr Clement Kwasi Mamadu, Krachi East National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), urged the electorates to vote for their respective candidates calmly and return home.

He appealed to activists and supporters of parties to refrain from violence and reminded them the importance of peace conflict resolution, added that, resorting to violence not only violates the nation’s constitution and principles but it also undermines the very fabric of democracy.
