Newly elected Keta Municipal FA Executives pledge to uplift the standard of football

The newly Elected Keta Municipal District Football Association (DFA) Executives in the Volta Region have pledged to revamp sports and uplift the standard of football in the area.

The idea was to unearth more talents in communities, basic and senior high and technical schools among others and nurture the young ones for a brighter future in football.

Mr. Mawuli Fofone Kofi Gati, the newly elected Keta Municipal District Football Association Chairman, in an interview with the GNA Sports, said all hands should be on deck to help work together to achieve the targeted aims and goals of the association. “I really thank God for a day like this, we have been without a substantive DFA leader for three years and this election means a step in a right direction for more development projects in football for Keta and beyond,” he said.

He said that some important areas the new administration would focus on the development of young talents through juvenile and third division leagues as well as improve the progress of various inter school games to bring back the euphoria and love for football in the area.

Mr. Gati explained that the Association would organize juvenile leagues for under 13, 15 and 17 categories and promote the over-aged footballers to the third division category to target second division qualification slot from the zone. “We would work tirelessly to bring back Keta football to where it belongs, we have been left behind other districts for far too long and l thank other executives who have held the mandate till now.”

Mr. Edziah Wisdom Saddick, the former acting DFA chairman who is also the Juvenile Club Representative in the association told that GNA that a total number of six juvenile teams participated in the last season’s league and more were expected to register for the upcoming season.

He said the DFA had commenced the initiation of Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) “Catch Them Young” refereeing training course for young talent in the area for free to add up to the professional referees in the Keta municipality in order get officials to handle games simultaneously during the season. He urged all juvenile and third division clubs to register and participate in the upcoming league season to revive football and also produce more talents to feed the various national teams.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mawuli Fofone Kofi Gati, gathered five votes to beat Mr. Christopher Agama, in the DFA chairmanship race whiles two out of ten expected eligible were absent with Mr. Edziah Wisdom Sadick contesting unopposed for juvenile club representative position. They urged all enthusiasts and sports lovers to support the association with more ideas for the progress of football in the various communities in the area.
