The New Patriotic Party (NPP) convened its 2025 National Congress in Accra this weekend, marking a significant moment in the party’s ongoing efforts to renew and strengthen its internal democratic structures.

Delegates from across Ghana gathered in an atmosphere of unity and purpose, reaffirming their collective commitment to the party’s foundational principles.

The Congress featured robust debate and resolution on proposed constitutional amendments, signaling a party intent on reforming from within.

According to Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Majority Chief Whip of the 9th Parliament of Ghana, the congress served as a critical forum for dialogue, unity, and forward-thinking among delegates from across the country.

The Congress deliberated a series of constitutional amendments designed to enhance internal governance and forward-thinking strategy. Key among them were:

    • Restructuring the regional executive election calendar to better align with national campaign cycles.
    • Strengthening the influence of TESCON and diaspora branches in internal party decision-making.
    • Enhancing coordination between the parliamentary caucus and national leadership, aiming for improved strategic direction.
    • Promoting gender and youth inclusion across all leadership levels.

As the NPP eyes the 2028 general elections, Hon. Annoh-Dompreh called on members and supporters to remain resolute.

“Let us continue to engage constructively and work together tirelessly,” he urged, “to demonstrate to the Ghanaian people that the NPP remains the best vehicle for national transformation.”
