    Okada rider stab to death by friend over motorbike

    A 20-year-old okada rider has allegedly been stabbed to death by his friend with a pair of scissors at Amoaku, near Samreboi in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality.

    The suspect, identified as Jacob alias Jaybad, was alleged to have attempted to steal his pal’s brand-new motorbike.

    According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on Monday May 5, 2025, around 20.00 hours, when the suspect asked Kwofie to transport him on his motorbike to Ohiapenika.

    They said after a short distance from Amoaku, the suspect stabbed the deceased from the back and ordered him to alight from the motorbike.

    A struggle ensued between them and the suspect overpowered Kwofie which resulted in his death, and he left to Ohiapenika with the motorbike.

    They said some youth, who chanced on the suspect prevented him from running away with the bike, so he fled to the chief’s palace to seek refuge.

    They added that the traditional leaders later called the police to apprehend the suspect, but some youth from Asuoshyime, where the deceased resided resisted and said the police should hand over the suspect to them.

    The youth followed up to the Samreboi police station and threatened to burn the whole place down if they refused to release the suspect to them.

    The police called for reinforcement, and they fired warning shots upon arrival to disperse the crowd and took the suspect to the Asankrangwa Police Command for further investigations.
