The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has responded to public criticism—particularly from investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni—regarding its management of the case involving the former Public Procurement Authority (PPA) CEO.
In a statement shared on its official Facebook page, the OSP clarified that the trial, which resumed on December 8, 2025, is still in progress and includes a motion to introduce an additional witness. The office stressed that since the current Special Prosecutor took over, the case has been actively pursued and was restructured after an extensive internal review.
The OSP’s update follows Manasseh Azure Awuni’s recent complaints about the slow pace of the prosecution. Speaking on the Joy Super Morning Show, he expressed frustration over delays he believes are weakening the case, noting that he and other key witnesses are reluctant to testify again due to procedural setbacks. He further criticised the OSP’s handling of critical evidence.
In its rebuttal, the OSP said it “has acted and will continue to act in the best interest of the Republic,” reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the fair and proper continuation of the trial.
