Mama Ametor Hoebuadzu II, Paramount Queen of Alavanyo Traditional Area, has broken ground for the construction of a dining hall for the Alavanyo Evangelical Presbyterian Technical Institute (EPTI) in the Volta Region.

The project, aimed at reducing the infrastructure deficits of the Institute, is receiving support from the Nkulenu Industries Limited. Mama Hoebuadzu during the ceremony, said she was deeply committed to the development and well-being of her communities. “Our traditional institutions have always been at the forefront of community development and we will continue to play this vital role.”

She said she could not do it alone and called for support and partnerships of organizations, institutions and individuals to help drive her development agenda. “I need your support in various forms of finance, technical, material, moral and expertise to help build capacity and strengthen institutions.” Mama Hoebuadzu said a lot could be achieved through infrastructure development, improved education and health care systems, and create opportunities for her people with enough support.

Mr Christian Kwame, Principal of EPTI, commended Mama Hoebuadzu adding that the construction of a dining hall was a welcome news. He said the Institute in November last year also received a desktop computer from the Paramount Queen for use at the General Office. Mr Kwame noted that the hall if completed, would also serve as the Institute’s assembly hall.

He said with the current boarding population of 1,356, the existing dining hall was just too small for use. “Our students practice a shift system as they went in batches to have their meal.” Mr Adolf Atsu Anku, Representative of Nkulenu Industries Limited, said the company’s support for the project would enable Mama Hoebuadzu succeed in her development agenda.

He said most queens had a lot of developmental plans for their Areas but lacked financial support and dedication which needed to be relooked at. Mr Anku called on entities and individuals to support the numerous queens who had development agenda for their communities to help develop their communities. Reverend Dr Lawson Kwaku Dzanku, Board Chairman of the Institute, commended Mama Hoebuadzu for her sterling leadership of the Area.

He said the EP Church would also support the project to ensure its successful completion. Rev Dr Dzanku admonished the students to take their studies seriously and make the Institute proud of after their completion.
