The Twifo Praso District Police on Wednesday, arrested a man who allegedly beat his 20-year-old daughter, Ms Esther Amoah Blankson, after she returned home late from work.

Chief Superintendent Charles Addae Boateng stated that although no formal complaint was filed by the victim, the police acted upon hearing of the incident.

The assault occurred on October 12 when Esther, a hairdresser apprentice, returned home at 1000 hours only to find out that her father, Nana Amoah, had locked her out.

Suspecting she had visited a boyfriend, he refused to open the door for her and the young woman broke in at about 0300hrs but was met with severe beatings from her father.

Nana Amoah was said to have seized his daughter’s phone and an amount of GH¢370.00, demanding that she replaced the broken padlock before returning them.

An argument ensued between father and daughter in the morning, leading to further assault on the lady with an electrical cable, causing significant injuries to her.

He said Nana Amoah had confessed to the assault but claimed his daughter provoked him by insulting him in the presence of his workers.

He is currently in police custody assisting them in further investigations.
