According to him, Nana’s continued support ensured his installation as the new Ya-Na and his sustained guidance had maintained peace in their beloved Dagbon, regardless of the pockets of lawlessness which were due to their own inaction and patience.

Ya-Na Abukari II made the remarks when President Akufo-Addo visited the Gbewaa palace as part of his thank you tour to the region, after his tenure of his office as President.

He said he was particularly thankful for the trust he had laced in his children and grandchildren by appointing them to various leadership positions within his administration.

The Ya-Na said the historic appointment of first Finance Minister from the North was particularly significant demonstrating his commitment to inclusive leadership.

He said whether the next government was from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or National Democratic Congress (NDC), God would bless and guide his tenure with a smooth and peaceful transition, “you have done your part and you have done your best” he said.

President Akufo-Addo congratulated Ya-Na for the peace prevailing in Dagbon since his enskinment had brought development to the area.

He said in the fourth Republic he was the third President after Presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor.

He said Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawunia who doubled as Vice President and flagbearer of NPP would continue to do the good work of development for the country if he wins the election.

The palace presented a bull, smock and 100 tubers of yams as token of appreciation and gesture to express their thanks to the President.

In related development he met the Branch of Trade Union Congress, Nurses, Midwives Blacksmiths, Party members, students of Yendi Senior High School at Yendi, where he addressed them expressing all that the NPP did during his tenure of office, especially, free education, roads, Agendal 111, amongst others.
