Rehabilitation works have commenced on the long-troubled outer lane of the Darkuman-Hansonic Junction stretch, bringing relief to motorists and residents who have endured deteriorating road conditions for more than a decade.
Drivers who regularly use the route have repeatedly raised concerns about the poor state of the road, citing difficulties for motorists, pedestrians and other road users. The deteriorated stretch has also affected traffic flow and raised road safety concerns.
In response, the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly has deployed contractors to undertake rehabilitation works aimed at addressing the drainage and road-related challenges along the stretch.
The works officially began on Friday, August 21, 2026, with construction crews currently working on the affected sections.
The intervention is expected to improve drainage and restore damaged portions of the roadway, providing a more durable solution to problems that have persisted for years.
The rehabilitation has also been extended from Atico Junction to the Kaneshie First Light intersection, widening the scope of the project and raising hopes among motorists who depend on the route for their daily journeys.
