The joint investiture ceremony took place at the Premier Event Centre (The Dome) at the University of Ghana, Legon, bringing together Rotarians, Rotaractors, development partners and other stakeholders committed to humanitarian service.

Held under Rotary International President’s theme, “Create Lasting Impact,” the event marked the official transition of leadership for the new Rotary year.

In his inaugural address, Jack Andrews Dotsey pledged to strengthen community service, youth empowerment and international partnerships that promote peace and humanitarian development.

A member of the Rotary Club of Accra, Dr Dotsey said his administration would prioritise improved local service delivery while expanding global collaborations in peacebuilding and humanitarian work. He also highlighted his long-standing involvement in youth development initiatives, including the Digital Youth Village project and the University of Ghana Annual New Year School and Conference.

For his part, Kingdom Kededor Avisseh outlined plans to strengthen Rotaract clubs and position young people at the forefront of community transformation through collaborative leadership.

As part of its strategic agenda for the 2026/2027 Rotary year, District 9104 announced a series of flagship humanitarian projects expected to attract more than US$1 million in funding.

Among the key initiatives is the District Library Project, which seeks to build and equip libraries in at least 20 schools to improve literacy among children.

The district also unveiled Operation Eradicate Malaria from Ghana, a health initiative aimed at reducing the country’s malaria burden through targeted interventions.

Other major programmes include the Commonwealth Youth Peace Project, the Rotaract Youth Leadership Academy, and the National Humanitarian Dialogue and Policy Practice Project, all designed to promote youth leadership, peacebuilding and stronger links between humanitarian service and public policy.

Additional initiatives include the District 9104 Cultural Heritage Preservation and Promotion Initiative, which focuses on environmental conservation and the protection of Ghana’s cultural heritage, as well as Operation Document Rotary Ghana’s Contribution, a project intended to preserve the organisation’s historical contributions to national development.

District leaders appealed to Corporate Ghana, financial institutions and development partners to support the implementation of the projects through funding and strategic partnerships.

Delivering the keynote address, Nana Aba Appiah Amfo emphasised the importance of collaboration, institutional partnerships and sustainable resource mobilisation in advancing Ghana’s development goals.

A representative of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana also commended Rotary International for its humanitarian impact and encouraged institutions to uphold Rotary’s Four-Way Test, which promotes truth, fairness, goodwill and mutual benefit in decision-making.

The ceremony featured the formal handover of leadership and was attended by Past District Governors, Past District Rotaract Representatives, Rotarians, Rotaractors and guests from Ghana and abroad.

With a global membership of about 1.4 million people, Rotary International continues to support initiatives focused on peacebuilding, disease prevention, education, clean water, maternal and child health, environmental protection and community development. District 9104 oversees Rotary and Rotaract clubs across Ghana, implementing projects that align with these global humanitarian priorities.
