The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram and Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has extended support to inmates of the Nsawam Medium Security Prison with a donation of food items and cash.
The gesture, according to the MP, forms part of his commitment to promoting compassion, inclusion, and dignity for all members of society, including those in confinement.
At a presentation ceremony held on his behalf, Mrs. Vera George, the MP’s wife, delivered the items — which included 50 gallons of cooking oil, 200 cartons of tomato paste, 110 packs of toilet rolls, 110 packs of detergents, 20 bags each of maize and gari, and an undisclosed amount of money.
Mrs. George noted that the initiative stemmed from her husband’s belief in humanity, reform, and second chances. She emphasised that those behind bars remain part of society and deserve to be treated with dignity and care.
Authorities at the prison, led by DDP Patrick Thomas Seidu, the Eastern Regional Prisons Commander, expressed appreciation for the donation, describing it as timely and impactful in easing the facility’s operational burdens.
Sam George has been widely recognised for his dedication to social welfare and advocacy for vulnerable groups, complementing his work in parliament and government.
