Ghanaian music icon Samini has officially set the stage for a monumental return to the spotlight with his forthcoming album, #ORIGION8A, expected to be released in 2025. During a candid and revealing interview on Joy Prime TV, the legendary reggae/dancehall artist confirmed that the project will feature a stellar cast of collaborators, including Stonebwoy, KAAKIE, Kofi Kinaata, and Mugeez—some of Ghana’s most beloved and influential musical voices.

The announcement has ignited excitement among fans and industry watchers alike, as this marks Samini’s most high-profile project in recent years. Known for his pioneering role in Ghana’s modern reggae and dancehall movement, Samini is widely credited with opening doors for an entire generation of Ghanaian artists—many of whom will now appear alongside him on #ORIGION8A.

The album’s title, #ORIGION8A (a stylized version of “Originator”), is a nod to Samini’s foundational role in Ghanaian music. With nearly two decades of influence, Samini has not only sustained a consistent presence in the scene but has also mentored and inspired younger artists who now dominate airwaves.

Stonebwoy, a BET Award winner and one of Samini’s most successful protégés, brings heavyweight energy and international acclaim to the project. KAAKIE, a former High Grade Family signee and one of the strongest female voices in dancehall, adds a nostalgic yet powerful presence. Kofi Kinaata, known for his lyrical brilliance and deep storytelling, will likely introduce highlife and soulful fusion into the mix. Mugeez, of R2Bees fame, is expected to bring smooth melodies and Afrobeat flavor.

This blend of artists suggests the album will offer a rich, multidimensional sound—balancing conscious roots reggae with commercial appeal and authentic Ghanaian rhythms.

While details on the tracklist and exact release date are still under wraps, Samini hinted that the album will reflect his musical journey, personal growth, and the evolution of Ghana’s music landscape. With his last major releases highlighting themes of identity, love, and social justice, fans can expect #ORIGION8A to continue in that tradition, but with renewed energy and collaborative flair.

The album also comes at a pivotal time, as Ghanaian music continues to gain global recognition. Samini’s project is poised to contribute meaningfully to that momentum—bridging the gap between veteran artistry and new-school dynamism.

Samini shared the exciting news during an exclusive appearance on Joy Prime TV, where he discussed the inspiration behind the album and the meaningful connections he has with each featured artist. The full interview is up on youtube now.

As we await the release of #ORIGION8A in 2025, fans are already buzzing with anticipation, eager to hear how this carefully curated lineup will sound under the direction of one of Ghana’s most enduring music legends.

Whether you’ve followed Samini since his Linda days or you’re just discovering the richness of Ghanaian reggae/dancehall, #ORIGION8A is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about albums of the year.
